The beautiful Cat's Eye Nebula is a planetary (gaseous) nebula that was discovered by William Herschel in 1786. It is located in the constellation Draco (the dragon). It's believed that at the center is a binary star system which spews out jet-like formations of gas, and its other major visual feature is the striking concentric rings around the center of the nebula.
